About The Event
Sidesaddle riding, or riding aside, is a form of equestrianism that uses a type of saddle that allows a rider to sit aside rather than astride an equine. Sitting aside dates back to antiquity and developed in European countries in the Middle Ages as a way for women in skirts to ride a horse in a modest fashion while also wearing fine clothing. It has retained a specialty niche even in the modern world.
If you've ever wanted to try riding sidesaddle (which many argue is safer than riding astride), this is your opportunity. The event features Samantha Terry, an accomplished sidesaddle equestrian.
This is a hands-on, all-day session. Lunch is included for those who sign up for lessons. (Watchers/listeners/auditors are welcome, but lunch is not provided.)
Note: Space is limited to 8 lesson participants and 20 listen-only/watchers.
About Samantha Terry: Samantha is a certified sidesaddle instructor. She has foxhunted aside, and taught jumping and Dressage. Samantha's students were the first to ride aside at the WDAA World Championship Show where they won several world championships, reserves, and consistently placed in the top-10. Samantha also had the first 4H member to ride western Dressage aside at State Fair. (For the first time, 4H will allow sidesaddle in regular show classes except jumping, reining, and contesting.)
Entrance fee includes the clinic, lesson, and lunch.
You can watch the event and ask questions along with everyone else. However, lessons and lunch are not included.
